Finishes

Many coatings and treatments can be applied to corrugated boxes to give them qualities that containerboard alone does not have. Each coating or treatment must be evaluated for its effectiveness and its impact on the contents of the box, the box manufacturing process and the boxÕs recyclability.

When determining finishes, consider your boxÕs needs. Does it need to be printed on? Does it need to be heat resistant? Do you want it to be recyclable? Will it need to meet FDA regulations for foot contact? Do you need it to take cold-set or hot-set glue? We offer many treatments that can protect your box and its contents:

Water and Moisture resistance - protect from water
Oil and grease resistance - protect from oil and grease
Abrasion resistance - reduce scuffing on inner packages
Release - reduction or elimination of adhesion
Non-skid - to resist sliding
Skin-pack adhesion - increase ability of plastic films to adhere
Flame retardancy - retard the spread of flame
Corrosion inhibitors - inhibit tarnish, corrosion or rust on contents
Static control - prevent transmission of electrical impulses that might damage sensitive electronic products
Gloss and color - change color or add gloss coating in flexographic process.
