Some products, such as industrial parts and bulk goods, place immense stress on their shipping containers. Standard cartons can rarely handle the job. Custom heavy-duty shipping boxes, on the other hand, deliver reliable performance. These containers protect products across the supply chain, helping them reach their destination in perfect condition.
At Abbott-Action, we control the manufacturing process at every stage. Our board is made on our own corrugators and then converted on our high speed flexo folder gluers. We also thoroughly test heavy duty shipping boxes to ensure they’re up to our quality standards and your performance requirements.

Corrugated packaging strength is determined by its construction. Thicker board, multiple fluting layers, and high-performance liners create heavy duty corrugated boxes.
Our 100″ corrugator runs E, B, and C flute single wall board as well as BC and EB double wall construction for more demanding applications, such as furniture packaging. In these constructions, we combine two flute profiles with three liners, so the finished box provides reliable stacking strength and puncture resistance.
A second production line expands our capabilities. Our 98″ corrugator produces B- and C-flute single-wall board. Together, our two corrugators provide a stable source of supply, with uptime of more than 99%. We also offer preprinting, which applies high-quality graphics to the liner before it is converted into a corrugated board.
Heavy duty corrugated boxes need to deliver the same level of performance with every production run. Consistency matters even more if your line depends on automatic case erectors since even a single out-of-spec black can jam the machine and delay production.
We convert heavy duty containers on three flexo fold gluers, with each one offering four color or three color in-line printing with die cutting. That means graphics and structural features are completed in a single pass. Together, these machines allow us to produce up to 42,000 boxes per hour.
At Abbott-Action, we treat custom heavy duty shipping boxes project as an engineering challenge rather than catalog orders. Our designers study how weight is distributed inside the box. They also account for stacking heights in your warehouse and the humidity your shipments are likely to face. That information helps us recommend the board grade and flute combination that will perform consistently.
For industries that require heavy duty corrugated boxes, there’s Abbott-Action. From furniture packaging to industrial packaging as well as food and beverage packaging, we know how to keep products protected as they move across the supply chain. Call us today for corrugated packaging products and services centered around your needs.
Capacity depends on the board grade and the box design. A thoughtfully engineered triple wall carton can reliably support several hundred pounds, while bulk bins can handle significantly more.
Both are common measures of board strength. The Edge Crush Test (ECT) shows how well board resists crushing on its edge, a critical indicator of stacking performance. The Mullen test measures burst strength, indicating how well the board withstands impact and internal pressure. Learn more about our testing capabilities here.
