About
The Abbott-Action Story
Abbott-Action Packaging is a third generation family business, owned and operated by Sam Abbott, Glen Gardiner, and Gail Conca. It was founded as Abbott Box Co. in 1935 by Abbott’s grandfather, Warren, and great uncle, Robert. It was passed down to the second generation, John and Paul Abbott, who successfully operated the company for many years, investing in flexo and litho printing innovations.
Around the same time, Action Container was transitioning from George Gardiner to second generation leadership that included Glen and Gail. They had the vision and foresight to secure a guaranteed source of sheets by investing in NewCorr Packaging, a sheetfeeder co-op. In 2001, the merger of Abbott Box and Action Container resulted in Abbott-Action Packaging, now located in Attleboro, MA.
Through the acquisitions of Patriot Packaging, Packaging Unlimited, and most recently French Packaging, a protective packaging division was formed, offering both foam and wood crating products. The facility is located in Canton, MA.
NewCorr Packaging
NewCorr, New England’s largest independent sheet feeder located in Northboro, MA, was founded in 1991 by six companies sharing a vision to establish a state-of-the-art source of supply. The venture proved so successful that in 1998 the group expanded its operation and added a second corrugator.
NewCorr produces the highest quality and widest variety of material – around the clock. It’s New England’s only manufacturing facility with two corrugators under one roof. Volume, high-technology, and efficiency allow NewCorr to be the low-cost producer without sacrificing quality or service.

Having two corrugators provides us – and you – with the peace of mind that comes from a stable source of supply, with up-time in excess of 99%.
- 87” corrugator produces E, B, and C flute single wall, and BC and EB double wall
- 98” corrugator produces B and C flute single wall
- Preprint

Recently, we completed a new addition to the NewCorr site – increasing the space almost 30 percent! This additional area will allow us to decrease lead-time for our customers by eliminating the need for any inventory being stored at third-party warehouses. We also added 3 new receiving doors and extended the ‘railside’ of the building – expanding our capabilities to receive paper by multiple means of transportation (truck & rail). And the space is climate controlled with dehumidification with all new HVAC units and controls to maintain product quality and improve conditions.
